Stability
Phototransformation and hydrolysis are the main abiotic degradation pathways for a substance.Reaction Products of alcohols, C14-18, C18 unsat., esterified with phosphorus pentoxide and salted with amines, C12-14, -tert-alkylis neither susceptible for phototransformation in air, water and soil nor for hydrolysis under environmental conditions. The test substance is a complex mixture (UVCB) for which the test guideline for hydrolysis is not recommended with components having different hydrolytic rates.
Biodegradation
The biodegradability of the test substance was investigated according to OECD Guideline 301 B (Ready Biodegradability: CO2Evolution Test) by Clarke (2012). A mixed population of aquatic microorganisms (activated sludge) collected from an aeration tank of a wastewater treatment plant treating predominantly domestic wastewater was used as inoculum. The test substance has to be assigned as persistent (P) in the environment since it attained 0 % degradation during 28 days exposure.
Bioaccumulation
Strong bioaccumulation of “Reaction Products of alcohols, C14-18, C18 unsat., esterified with phosphorus pentoxide and salted with amines, C12-14, -tert-alkyl” in aquatic organisms is unlikely based on the predicted partition coefficient (logPow) of > 8 and supporting information given by the QSAR prediction with BCFBAF v3.01, resulting in an aquatic BCF of 70.8 L/kg (Chemservice S. A., 2013d). For substances exhibiting a logPow < 4.5 or > 6, no strong bioaccumulation is expected.
Transport and distribution
An experimental determination of the soil adsorption coefficient (Koc) for Reaction Products of alcohols, C14-18, C18 unsat., esterified with phosphorus pentoxide and salted with amines, C12-14,-tert-alkyl is not possible based on the chemical properties. Two different representatives structures of the UVCB substance were used in order to determine the Koc with the QSAR softwar KOCWIN v2.00 (EPIWIN software) by US-EPA (Chemservice S.A., 2013). Using the traditional method, the logKoc is given as 6.46 L/kg and the MCI method reveals a value of 9.33 L/kg as result for the first structure. The second structure reveals logKoc values of 10.99 L/kg and 14.06 L/kg concerning the traditional and MCI method, respectively. The MCI method is taken more seriously into account due to the fact, that it includes improved correction factors.
No Henry Law constant can be determined using the two representative structures in HENRYWIN v3.20 since both prediction methods result in "incomplete results".For the chemical safety assessment, the value predicted by EUSES v2.1 for“Reaction Products of alcohols, C14-18, C18 unsat., esterified with phosphorus pentoxide and salted with amines, C12-14, -tert-alkyl”(0.944 Pa*m³/mol; Chemservice S.A., 2013) is used in order to calculate the PNECsediment (freshwater and marine water) of the substance.
Environmental data
No monitoring data and field studies are available. No investigations are intended since these are no mandatory endpoints for a REACH Registration of 100 - 1000 t/a.
