Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Under the conditions of this study, the pour point of the test material was determined to be -18 ± 3 °C (255 ± 3 K).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-18 °C

Additional information

The key study was conducted in line with GLP and the standardised guidelines OECD 102 and EU Method A.1. It was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria detailed by Klimisch (1997).

The melting point was determined using the pour point method.

The sample of the test material was heated to 46 °C in a water bath set at 48 °C before being allowed to cool in air to 35 °C. It was then transferred to a bath maintained at -1 to 2 °C, and cooled to 10 °C. At 10 °C, the sample was transferred to a bath maintained at -18 to -15 °C and cooled to -7 °C. Finally, the sample was transferred to a bath maintained at -35 to -32 °C. Starting at -6 °C and at intervals of 3 °C, the sample was tilted to a horizontal position for a period of 5 seconds, during which it was observed for signs of flow.

Under the conditions of this study, the pour point of the test material was determined to be -18 ± 3 °C (255 ± 3 K).
