Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: - Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition

seek medical advice.

Emergency measure - Eyes: - Rinse with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, seek

medical advice.

Emergency measure - Skin: - Wash with soap and water.

Emergency measure - Ingestion: - Symptomatic treatment. In case of indisposition, seek

medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: - Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide

Product arising from burning: - Combustion products may contain carbon, nitrogen and sul-

fur oxides, together with hydrogen chloride and hydrogen

fluoride gas and metal derivatives.

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: - Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: - Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and

impermeable gloves).

Solids : Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in

suitable containers for disposal.

Liquids: Absorb using a suitable absorbent, collect and

place in suitable containers for disposal.

Dispose of waste material at a controlled landfill site or

authorised incineration facility.

Handling and storage

Handling: - Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If

the substance is handled as a powder, avoid inhalation of

dust and wear dust mask. Use equipment for handling pow-

ders or other appropriate engineering controls.

Avoid skin contact and wear impermeable gloves and protec-

tive clothing.

Storage: - The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure

containers in adequate rooms.

Avoid dust residue outside the containers.

Exposure controls / personal protection

General protective measures:       Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

Hand protection :       Chemical resistant gloves Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).

Eye protection :       Tightly fitting safety goggles

Danger other than fire:  Compounds of this type have been known to cause respiratory sensitisation if inhaled in dust form.

It can not be ruled out that the handling of other reactive dyes may also involve a risk of this type.

Therefore, the handling precautions mentioned at 2.3.1 must be observed.

If sensitisation (asthmatic symptoms) occurs in spite of these measures, remove person from exposure and seek

medical attention.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical reaction with water: - None.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: - Normal application results in the consumption of 74 % by

irreversible binding to textiles.

Recovery for recycling of the remaining highly water soluble substance is not reasonably practical.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: - Not applicable.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: - Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: - Discharge by incineration at high temperatures (>800°C)

in a suitable facility with the equipment necessary to

remove oxides of sulfur and nitrogen as well as halogenated compounds.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: - It is estimated that 26 % of the total quantity used is

discharged into internal industrial effluents as highly

diluted solution. A purification of the waste water is

recommended. This substance should be used in a well

equiped dye house.

The waste water can be purified by membrane filtration or

by floculation with cationic agents or by treatment with

ozone. The most effective method is the membrane filtra-

tion: more than 99% of the dyestuff can be removed from

the waste water.
