Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Similar HDI oligomers are used to fill data gaps where data are not available for the reaction mass to be registered. Since the molecular structure and the physico-chemical properties of the HDI substances are very similar, the available studies are sufficient to cover the aquatic toxicity endpoints. Therefore, this read across approach is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Grouping of substance and read across approach as it is explained within the analogue justification in the Annex. Acute tests on fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae were performed to examine the aquatic toxicity of the submission item. The acute tests conducted with structural similar read-across substances resulted in nominal effect concentrations above 100 mg/L. Thus, the HDI oligomer reaction mass is considered to be acutely not harmful to aquatic organisms.

No data on long-term toxicity on fish and aquatic invertebrates are available. However, the hazard assessment of the HDI oligomer reaction mass reveals neither a need to classify the substance as dangerous for the environment, nor is it a PBT or vPvB substance. Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, long-term toxicity studies in fish and aquatic invertebrates are not provided.
