The acute toxicity of the test material to fish was investigated in Oncorhynchus mykiss (Rainbow trout) in accordance with standardised guidelines OECD 203 and EU Method C.1. The fish were exposed to the test material in a limit test (100 mg/L) under static conditions. Further groups of fish were subjected to dilutions of the limit test solution in a range finding test at 0.1, 1 and 10 mg/L for a period of 96 hours, again, under static conditions. The mean measured concentration of the test substance was 107 % of the nominal exposure concentration; the results and conclusions were therefore based on the nominal concentrations. No mortalities or sub-lethal effects were observed during the course of the study. The 96 hour LC50 was determined to be in excess of 100 mg/L. The NOEC of the test material under the conditions of the test was determined to be 100 mg/L.
The study was performed in line with GLP and accepted standardised guidelines with a high standard of reporting. The study was assigned a reliability score of 1 in accordance with the criteria outlined by Klimisch (1997) and considered suitable for assessment as an accurate reflection of the test material.
The available data are considered to be complete and the result determined, 96 h LC50 value of > 100 mg/L, was taken forward for risk assessment.
