First-aid measures

General information : Get medical aid.

First aid measures :

- Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

- Skin contact : Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min.

- Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 min. Occasionally lift up the upper and lower eyelids.

- Ingestion : If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is conscious).

Note to physician : treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media : appropriate foam, dry powder, carbon dioxide, water spray.

Special hazards arising from the substance: nitrogen oxides, carbon oxides.

Protection against fire : Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus in pressure-demand, MSHA/NIOSH (or quivalent) and full protective gear.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Use proper personal protective equipment as indicated in Section Exposure controls and personal precaution. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid inhaling vapors, fogs of pulverizing or gazes. Evacuate personal to safe places.

Environmental precautions : Do not let the chemical enter the environment.

Clean up methods :soak up with inert absorbent material and dispose of as hazardous waste. Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Storage : Store in tightly closed, properly ventilated containers. Store in dry, cool, well-ventilated area. Carefully closed all opened container and kept upright to prevent leakage.

Handling : Avoid any contact with skin and eyes. Avoid inhaling vapors, fogs of pulverizing or gazes. Normal measures for preventive fire protection.

This substance is handled under strictly controlled conditions in accordance with Reach regulation Article 18(4) for transported isolated intermediate. Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management system is available at each site. Written confirmation of application of strictly controlled conditions has been received from every downstream user of the intermediate.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Industrial hygiene : Use adequate ventilation to keep airbone conentrations low . Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at theand of workday.  Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

Personal protection :

- Respiratory protection : when risk assesment shows that the breathing apparaus is needed, use a full face mask with versatile cartridge (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387). If the mask is the only protection, use a self-contained breathing apparatus with full face shield. Use of equipment and components tested and approved by NIOSH and CEN (EU).

- Hand protection : Wear suitable gloves resistant to chemical penetration. Gloves have to be controlled before the use. Use a technique of withdrawal of gloves suited to avoid that the skins contacts the product.

- Skin protection : Wear suitable protective clothing. The type of equipment of protection must be selected according to the concentration and to the quantity of the product at work.

- Eye protection : Safety glasses with side-shields conforming to EN 166. Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166 (EU).
