First-aid measures

GENERAL INFORMATION
Personal protection for the First Aider.
Remove any clothing soiled by the product.

· After inhalation
Take affected persons into the open air and position comfortably.
Supply fresh air. If required, provide artificial respiration. Keep patient warm.
With symptoms: Call for medical help.
In case of unconsciousness bring patient into stable side position for transport.

· After skin contact
Instantly remove contaminated clothing.
Instantly wash with water and rinse thoroughly. Or better Instantly wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly.
If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.

· After eye contact
Use eye protection.
Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult Oculist.

· After swallowing
Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Call for medical help. A vomiting person on the side, lying on the back, turn.
If vomiting, hold the head of the vomiting person low with the body in a prone position.

INFORMATION FOR THE DOCTOR: The toxicological properties of this material have not bean fully investigated.
· The following symptoms may occur:
Irritations after contact with eyes, skin and mucous membrane.
After inhalation of dust:
Irritating to respiratory tract.
Coughing
Breathing difficulty (dyspnea)
After swallowing:
Irritations of mucous membranes in the mouth, pharynx, oesophagus and gastrointestinal tract.
Gastric or intestinal trouble
A description of possible other symptoms is not present at the moment.

· Danger
Irritation on eyes, skin and respiratory tract.
Substance not fully tested!
No examined data or experiences are present regarding toxic and/or chronic endangerments for the health.
Inhalation of the dust should be avoided as even inert dusts may impair respiratory organ functions.
The following applies to cyanogen compounds/nitriles in general: utmost caution! Release of hydrocyanic acid possible.
There are at present no indications to further acute dangers for the health.
Further health dangers cannot be excluded however.

· Treatment
Elemental assistance.
Decontamination.
Treat symptomatically and supportively

Fire-fighting measures

· Suitable extinguishing agents
CO2, extinguishing powder or water fog. Fight larger fires with water fog or alcohol-resistant foam.

· For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents Water with a full water jet.

· Special hazards caused by the material, its products of combustion or flue gases:
Formation of toxic and corrosive gases during heating or in case of fire.
Can be released in case of fire:
Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
Dust explosion hazard!

· Protective equipment:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Wear full protective suit.

· Additional information
Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately. It must not enter drains.
Damp down gases/fumes/haze with water spray jet.

Accidental release measures

· Person-related safety precautions:
Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away.
Use breathing protection against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol.
Keep away from ignition sources
Avoid causing dust.
Ensure adequate ventilation
Bring persons out of danger.

· Measures for environmental protection:
Do not allow to enter sewing systems, water bodies, groundwater or soil.
Inform respective authorities in case product reaches water, sewage system or soil.

· Measures for cleaning/collecting:
Avoid causing dust.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Collect mechanically.
Clean up affected area.
May be recycled or disposed of in appropiate container.

Handling and storage

HANDLING
· Information for safe handling:
Keep containers tightly sealed.
Prevent formation of dust.
Ensure good ventilation/exhaustion at the workplace.

· Information about protection against explosions and fires:
Substance/product is flammable.
Dust can combine with air to form an explosive mixture.
Fire fighting equipment must be available.
Protect from heat.
Avoid deposition of dust.
Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.
Protect against electrostatic charges.

STORAGE
· Requirements to be met by storerooms and containers:
Store in cool location.
Store in original container if possible.

· Information about storage in one common storage facility:
Keep away from foodstuffs.
Do not store together with materials/products which can form dangerous chemical reactions.
See point 10: stability and reactivity.

· Further information about storage conditions:
Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed containers.
Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
Store container in a well ventilated position.
Store in a locked cabinet or with restricted to technical experts or their assistants.

· Recommended storage temperature: < +30°C
