Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Skin contact: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water. Wash clothing before reuse.

Eye contact: In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration, preferably mouth to mouth. Seek medical advice.

Ingestion: Give 500 ml water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: the product is not flammable.

Exposure hazards: high temperatures may liberate toxic or corrosive gases. Do not breathe smoke or vapours. Use water stream to cool containers.

Protective equipment and precautions for firefighters: wear self-contained breahing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: respirator with filter for organic vapour.

Environmental precautions: contain any spill with dikes or absorbents to prevent migration and entry into sewers or streams.

Methods for Clean-up: may require excavation of contaminated soil.

Handling and storage

Handle the substance under strictly controlled conditions according to Article 18(4) of REACH Regulation. Rigorous containment should be achieved.

Handling: handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Storage: keep container tightly closed and dry. Mechanical ventilation is recommended. Local exhaust is needed at source of vapours.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Appropriate engineering controls: use in closed system. The substance/product is registered as intermediate with strictly controlled conditions as defined in Article 18(4) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH) and must therefore be handle as such.

2. Technical measures/Precautions: use ventilation adequate to keep exposures below recommended exposure limits. Use with local exhaust ventilation.

3. Organisational measures: training in proper use of PPE provided and ensured via an inspection policy.

4. Hand protection: gloves resistant to chemical permeation.

5. Body protection: if skin contact or contamination of clothing is likely, protective clothing should be worn.

6. Eye protection: chemical resistant to chemical permeation.

7. Respiratory protection: approved organic vapour respirator. Approved supplied-air respirator, in case of emergency.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: stable under normal conditions.

Possibility of Hazardous Reactions: none under normal processing.

Conditions to avoid: heat, flames and sparks.

Materials to avoid: keep away from aluminum, magnesium, zinc and their alloys.

Hazardous decomposition products: hydrogen chloride, chlorine, hydrobromic acid, bromine and oxides of carbon.

Disposal considerations

Waste disposal methods: dispose in a safe manner in accordance with local/national regulations.
