Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A study conducted in accordance with the OECD Testing Guideline 121 (Adsorption Coefficient on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using HPLC) and GLP requirements. The results of this study indicate that the mean log Koc value is 1.66.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
45.7

Additional information

The objective of the key study was to determine the Adsorption Coefficient of the test item heptan-1-ol applying the procedure described in the OECD Guideline 121 Adsorption Coefficient on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC).

As it can be seen in the table below, the 3 replicate determinations show that the mean log Koc value is 1.66.

A log Koc experimental value of 1.14 is also reported in Meylan and Howard, 1992* but without any details with regards to the experimental conditions. Nevertheless, this value confirms that the substance has a low adsorption potential.
