MOBILE PHASES
- Type: acetonitrile:reverse osmosis water (55/45 v/v)
- pH: 7.7
DETERMINATION OF DEAD TIME
- Method: by means of homologous series / by inert substances which are not retained by the column
REFERENCE SUBSTANCES
- Solutions of reference standards were prepared in acetonitrile
- Standards: Acetanilide, Phenol, Atrazine, Isoproturon, Triadimenol, Linuron, Naphthalene, Endosulfan-diol, Fenthion, alpha-Endosulfan, Phenanthrene, Diclofop-methyl, DDT
DETERMINATION OF RETENTION TIMES
- The dead time was determined by measuring the retention time of formamide (purity >= 99.5 %, 1.03 g/L solution in mobile phase)
EVALUATION
- Calculation of capacity factors k': Calculated following the equation
k = (tr - t0) / t0
Where k = capacity factor, tr = retention time (min), t0 = dead time (min) - Type:
- log Koc
- Value:
- 4.52 dimensionless
- Temp.:
- 30 °C
- Details on results (HPLC method):
- - Average retention data for test substance: 10.93 min
- Retention times of reference substances used for calibration:
Acetanilide: 3.496 min
Phenol: 3.659 min
Atrazine: 4.394 min
Isoproturon: 4.524 min
Triadimenol: 4.960 min
Linuron: 5.555 min
Naphthalene: 6.086 min
Endosulfan-diol: 5.621 min
Fenthion: 7.924 min
alpha-Endosulfan: 10.286 min
Phenanthrene: 8.030 min
Diclofop-methyl: 9.883 min
DDT: 15.526 min - Conclusions:
- The test material presents a mean Koc value of 32700 and a mean Log Koc of 4.52.
- Executive summary:
This adsorption/desorption study has been performed according to the test guideline EU C.19 and in compliance with GLP applying the HPLC screening method. Two runs were conducted and determination of the retention time determined based on a calibration curve of reference standards. The mean retention time of the substance was 10.93 min. This results in a mean Koc value of 32700 and a mean Log Koc of 4.52.
Reference
Description of key information
Log Koc = 4.52 at 30°C (EU method C19)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Koc at 20 °C:
- 32 700
Additional information
A GLP guideline study using EU method C19 determined a log koc of 4.52 at 30°C (Walker and Mullee, 2007).
According to Table R.7.11-2 of the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7c, 4,4'-(9H-fluoren-9-ylidene)bis(2-chloroaniline) should already be considered as Hazard category 4 for soil hazard categories (log Kow > 5, log Koc 4.5, sediment as target compartment, DT50 > 180 days, EC/LC50 < 1 mg/L) , and so the screening assessment based on EPM cannot be applied. Therefore, it is thought unnecessary to run further testing of adsorption/desorption since the criteria for the maximal hazard category are already fulfilled.
