Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

There is data available for this substance. Additionally, key and supporting data is available for structural analogues. The data is read across to this substance based on analogue read across and a discussion and report on the read across strategy is provided as an attachment in IUCLID Section 13.

The substances are poorly soluble and made of constituents with various water solubility. As a consequence, the exposures were performed with Water Accommodated Fractions (WAFs). Therefore, the results are based on nominal loadings.

Based on data available for this substance and structural analogues, this substance does not demonstrate acute fish, acute invertebrate, algae and microorganism toxicity at high loading rates. Chronic toxicity was never observed below 1 mg/L.

Additional information

Key and supporting information is summarised below:

Short-term toxicity to fish

Measured data are available for the registration substance in which the LL50 for Cyprinus carpio was found to be >100 mg/l.

Long-term toxicity to fish

Measured data are available for hydrocarbons, C10-C13, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics, the 32 day NOEC value was ≥100 mg/l based on hatching, survival and growth. These data are used as read-across data to Hydrocarbons, C12-C15, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

Measured data are available for the registration substance in which the EL50 for Daphnia magna was found to be >100 mg/l.

Long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

A computer-based program, Petrotox (PETROTOX-UDM_ver3.01-2006-01438-01-E), was used to calculate the toxicity of hydrocarbon solvent products estimated using the Petrotox model.

An estimated freshwater invertebrate 21-day NOELR (No Observed Effect Loading Rate) value of >1000 mg/l based on reproduction of Daphnia magna was determined for Hydrocarbons, C12-C15, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics.

Toxicity to algae and cyanobacteria

Measured data are available for the registration substance in which the EL50 was found to be >100 mg/l and the NOELR was ≥100 mg/l.

Microorganisms Toxicity

The hydrocarbons, C12-C15, n-alkanes, isoalkanes, <2% aromatics, estimated protozoan, Tetrahymena ellioti, 48-hr EL50 value for this substance is >100 mg/L based on growth inhibition
