2-ethyl-2-(((1-oxoisooctadecyl)oxy)methyl)-1,3-propanediyl bis (isooctadecanoate) (CAS 68541-50-4) was proved to be readily biodegradable in a study following guideline OECD guideline 301 B. Based on the CO2 evolution a degradation rate of 91% was determined after 28 days of incubation. The substance is thus expected to be readily degraded by microorganisms in aquatic and terrestrial environments. In accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2. - 9.2.1.4., further simulation tests for water and sediment or soil biodegradation are therefore not necessary.
