Equipment
Petrotest PMA4 (Pensky-Martens) Method: Enl: corresponds to Method A of DIN EN ISO 2719 SEL: preliminary estimate Ignition method: electrical Barometric correction: automatic Sample volume: 80 mL
The correct operation of the equipment was checked by measuring a liquid with standard flash point (PM 75/135, flash point 71.6 ±1.0 °C). The last test prior to this study was Date Result 26th. Nov 2012 72.7 °C (mean of 73.3 / 72.1)
Results
The measurement gave the following results: Measurement Result Status Norm conformity [ °C ] #1 Enl 164.5 STOP BURN No #2 Enl 182.2 STOP BURN No The mean atmospheric pressure was 99.9 kPa; the result quoted is corrected to standard atmospheric pressure, 101.3 kPa.
The test did not give a flash point in accordance with the norm, but a lower limit can be obtained. Using the lower of the two results, together with the typical uncertainty of ± 2 °C for well-defined flash points, we conclude that there is no flash point up to 162 °C.
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The flash point of 3-(isodecyloxy)propionitrile is above 162 °C at 101.3 kPa (Pensky-Martens method, DIN EN ISO 2719).
- Executive summary:
The flash point of 3-(isodecyloxy)propionitrile is above 162 °C at 101.3 kPa (Pensky-Martens method, DIN EN ISO 2719).
