Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
test procedure in accordance with generally accepted scientific standards and described in sufficient detail
Justification for type of information:
Data is from experimental study report
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: as mentioned below
Principles of method if other than guideline:
It is how easily substance can burn or ignite, causing fire or combustion by brief contact with an ignition source
GLP compliance:
no
Other quality assurance:
ISO/IEC 17025 (General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories)
Key result
Test procedure:
other: Ignition on contact with air
Remarks on result:
other: test chemical ignited when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950 degC was brought in contact with it.
Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Conclusions:
From the experimental values of flammability, test substance was ignited when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950 degC was brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is flammable only at high temperature of about 950 degC. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, test chemical was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.
Executive summary:

From the experimental values of flammability, test substance was ignited when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950 degC was brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is flammable only at high temperature of about 950 degC. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, test chemical was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

From the experimental values of flammability, test substance was ignited when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of 950 degC was brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is flammable only at high temperature of about 950 degC. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, test chemical was considered non-flammable for chemical safety assessment.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The end point study indicates that the target chemical is not flammable and the same is also supported by the fact that the flash point of the substance is higher than 60 degree C (which is considered to be the threshold value to classify the substance in flammable category as per the CLP regulation).
