Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Formaldehyde, polymer with benzenamine, hydrogenated) is poorly degraded in water, as demonstrated by inherent biodegradability and ready biodegradability assays (Yoshio and Takayanagi 1992)

Based on the available data and regarding the chemical structure, a low potential for biodegradation in the environment is expected. Therefore, no further tests on biodegradation (simulation testing of biodegradation in sediments or soil) were performed because it is not expected that further testing will significantly change this assessment.

Study on Copolymer of benzenamine and formaldehyde, hydrogenated abiotic degradation by hydrolysis is provided (Betteley, 2012) which shows that substance half life is longer that 1 year at pH 4 and 7 abd it is 79 days at pH4.
