Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The biodegradation of PF-6 (CAS 61358-25-6) under aerobic conditions was investigated in a GLP guideline study. The test was performed according to OECD 301A (Eisner, 2012).

In the test flasks, containing the test item and activated sludge (inoculum), the mean concentration of DOC (dissolved organic carbon) varied between 23 and 27 mg/L over the exposure period of 28 days and thus was not significantly different from the initial mean DOC concentration of 24 mg/L measured on Day 0. Expressed as percentage DOC removal, mean values in the range from 7 to -10% were noted. Therefore, PF-6 was not biodegradable under the test conditions.
