Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Partition coefficient (triethoxysilane): 1.7 (QSAR)
Partition coefficient (silanetriol): -2.9 (QSAR)
Log Kow (ethanol): -0.3

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Due to the rapid hydrolysis of the substance (1 hr) the partition coefficient is not required. The Log Kow of 1.7 was obtained for the substance and -2.9 for the hydrolysis product using an appropriate calculation method. The result is considered to be reliable. Although, log Kow is not required for inorganic substances, the prediction is indicative of a high tendency to partition to water for the hydrolysis product.

Ethanol has a measured log Kow of -0.3 (Hansch C 1995).
