Description of key information
Bisdecanoyl peroxide at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium did not have any detectable effects on the reproduction of Daphnia magna in a 21 day chronic study under semi-static conditions performed according to OECD 211 guideline and GLP requirements.

The toxicity of bisdecanoyl peroxide dissolved in fresh water on the reproductive efficacy to Daphnia magna in a 21 day chronic study under semi-static conditions with daily renewal has been investigated through OECD Guideline 211 and according to GLP requirements (Chastenet, 2017). All the validity criteria were fulfilled.
The test organisms were exposed to the test substance at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium (generated from a 10 mg/L water soluble fraction stirred, ultrasonicated then filtered through 0.45 µm nitrocellulose filter). A conscious effort was made not to disperse the test substance at concentrations above its solubility limit.
Measured concentrations of test item were successfully quantified for new solutions. For old solutions the grazing activity of the test organisms as well as the test item instability made this impossible. Although this reduces the dissolved test concentration and exposure via the water phase, the consumption of the algae would still result in an environmentally relevant exposure to the test organisms.
The test substance at its maximum achievable solubility in test medium did not have any detectable effects on reproduction in a 21 day chronic study under semi-static conditions with daily renewal. It can be concluded that the test item does not display any chronic toxicity to Daphnia magna at concentrations potentially achievable in the environment (water solubility is the maximum concentration achievable).
