Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The viscosity of DEGDB is estimated to be between 83 - 111 mPa.s though a definitive value is not available (Genovique Notebook 1-08, Page 29, 2010).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
83 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

The viscosity determination presented within the report covered three products which contain:

  • Dipropylene glycol dibenzoate (DPGDB) alone (Benzoflex 9 -99),
  • A reaction mass of DPGDB and diethylene glycol dibenzoate (DEGDB) (Benzoflex 50),
  • A reaction mass of DPGDB, DEGDB and triethylene glycol dibenzoate (Benzoflex 2088).

The viscosities (mPa.s) determined were

DPGDB = 111

DPGDB + DEGDB = 91

DPGDB + DEGDB + TEGDB = 83

Based on the similarity of structures, it is reasonable to conclude that the viscosity of DEGDB alone will be within the range 83 - 111 mPa.s

If a precise value is required, a formal study on DEGDB will need to be conducted
