Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

It has been observed that the rate of hydrolysis increases with an increase in pH.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
6.88 h
at the temperature of:
15 °C

Additional information

Abiotic Degradation, Hydrolysis as a Function of pH.

Assessment of hydrolytic stability was carried out based on Method C7 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC. The results are shown in the table below:

The main hydrolysis products were confirmed as di-isopropyl xanthogen disulphide (DIXD) and sulphur.
The peak area of the standard and sample solutions and subsequent concentrations were calculated on the tetramer component of the test material only.
The kinetics of the study have been determined to be consistent with that of a pseudo-first order reaction as the graphs of log10 versus time are straight lines.
It has been observed that the rate of hydrolysis increases with an increase in pH.
