First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. Symptomatic treatment. Seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse thoroughly with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention if irritation continues.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if
irritation continues.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Drink water. Symptomatic treatment. Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water fog, foam, dry chemical media, carbon dioxide.
Product arising from burning: The substance is combustible and will burn if involved in a
fire, evolving noxious fumes (oxides of carbon, nitrogen and
sulphur as well as fluor and sodium containing compounds).

Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing
apparatus must be worn.
Fight the fire from a safe distance or protected location.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Evacuate personner from immediate vicinity.
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment conforming
to the relevant national or international standards, as
mentioned in section 2.3.10.
Absorb spillages of solutions with a suitable inert material
(eg. sand or soil). Carefully transfer the spillage to
waste containers, or use a sealed industrial vacuum machine.
Containers filled with waste material must be labelled in
the same way as th original substance containers.
Clean the spillage area with detergent and water- Avoid
release to drain.
Dispose of waste in accordance with local regulations by
landfill or incineration.
Handling and storage
Handling: The substance should be handled and used under conditions of
good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local
regulations in order to avoid oral, dermal and inhalative
exposure.
Engineering controls are necessary to reduce exposure to the
substance. Common industry practice is the use of down-flow
booths.
When exposure cannot be prevented or adequately controlled
appropriate personal protective equipment should be worn.
Such protective equipment e.g. protective gloves, clothing
and protective glasses should conform to the appropriate
international or national standards as follows: Chemical
protective gloves to Standard prEN374.
Chemical protective clothing to Standard EN368.
Eye protection to Standard prEN166.
Furthermore, when respiratory protective equipment has to be
used, it must be capable of adequately controlling exposure,
be suitable for the purpose and conform to the appropriate
international or national standards. Positive pressure dust
masks are recommended.
Conspicuously labelled eye-douche stations should be
provided in the immediate vicinity of the working area.
In cases where dusts can form, due to the potential dust-
explosion risk, potential sources of ignition should be
removed from the working area. In addition, measures should
be taken to prevent electrostatic discharges.
Storage: The substance should be stored in the original packing drums
or other secure containers which are labelled according to
the regulations under conditions of good industrial hygiene.
Storage in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area. Keep
containers tightly closed when not in use and secure them
against falling by taking the appropriate measures.
Avoid residues on the outside of the containers.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Normal application results in the consumption of ca 85 % by
irreversible binding to the cellulose or cotton fibers;
recovery or recycling of the remaining test stubstance is
not possible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: No suitable method known.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration with flue gas scrubbing.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment
plant. It is estimated that about 15 % of the total quantity
used is discharged into internal industrial effleunts as
highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste water
in a waste water treatment plant is recommended. The
dyestuff should be used in a well equioed dyehouse.
If necessary the waste water can be purified prior to the
waste water treatment by membrane filtration or by
flucculation with cationic agents or be treatment with
ozone. The most effective method is the membrane filtration:
more than 99 % of the remaining dyestuff can be removed from
the waste water.

domain except as part of an article.
