Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
biodegradation in water: ready biodegradability
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:

Justification for type of information:
The substance is the reaction product of copper sulfate (CuSO4) and tetraethylenepentamine (TEPA). Biodegradation for CuSO4 is not relevant as this is a inorganic substance. Therefore, the biodegradability of the substance is determined by TEPA. TEPA has already been registered under REACH. For the biodegradation of TEPA, it was concluded that the substance is not biodegradable.
Therefore, based on the biodegradability of TEPA and as a worst-case approach, the reaction product of copper sulfate and tetraethylenepentamine was determined to be not readily biodegradable.

Description of key information

As a worst-case approach based on information on the constituents, the reaction product of copper sulfate and tetraethylenepentamine was regarded as not readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed
