Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The acute toxic potential of the substance is evaluated by considering data on similar substances. Justification for Read Across is given in Section 13 of IUCLID.

The toxic potential of the substances to aquatic invertebrates is evaluated after the exposure of Daphnia magna at the substance according to the OECD Guideline 202. Thirty Daphnids per concentration (three replicates per concentration) were exposed to 100 mg/l (limit test) of the substance under static conditions for 48 hours. The concentrations of the test substances were analyzed at control and 100 mg/l of the test solution using ICP at the beginning (0 hour) and the end (48 hours) of the test. No immobility or adverse effects were observed at control or 100 mg/l (nominal). The 48 hr EC50 of the two substances were both above the highest tested nominal concentration (100 mg/l) which corresponds to 2.9 mg/l (Similar Substance 06) and 5.35 mg/l (Similar Substance 05) measured concentrations.

The magnesium and strontium toxicity potential was also reported in the literature. Biesinger and Christensen reported a LD50 of 140000 and 125000 μg/l corresponding to magnesium and strontium respectively. Ten daphnids were exposed to the substances for 48 hours after which they were observed for mortality and immobilisation.

The substance is also expected to have an EC50 > 100 mg/l (nominal) or above the limit of solubility. The substance is poorly soluble in water rendering its bioavailability lower and thus an exposure of the aquatic invertebrates is not expected.
