Description of key information

Biotic degradation

Fe (III) IDHAwas identified to be "readilybiodegradable"in OECD screening test 301F(BAYER AG, 2003). In addition to that, the substance was found to be biodegradableacc. to OECD Guideline 302 B - Inherent Biodegradability. Method: Zahn-Wellens/EMPA-Test.

Conclusively, thesubstance will be degraded when entering the environmental compartment and therefore will not be persistent.

 

 

Bioaccumulation

Bioaccumulation in aquatic organisms is not expected for Fe(III)IDHA. The first indication for that conclusion is given by the substance specific logPow of -7.51 at 25 °C (calculated; ADOB, 2016). Bioaccumulation is expected for substances possessing a partition coefficient in the range of 4.5 to 6 according to ECHA Guidance R.11, PBT Assessment).

 

Transport and distribution

Soil adsorption is not expected for Fe(III)IDHA based on the intrinsic physico-chemical properties, i.e. logPow of -7.51 (ADOB, 2016).

The QSAR prediction with KOCWIN v2.00 (logKoc = 1.00 L/kg; ADOB., 2016) reveals that the substance possesses no strong binding capacity towards soil.

Henry´s Law constant was calculated by EPI Suite program (HENRYWIN v3.20) and amounts to 9.027E-019 Pa-m3/mole at 25 °C (ADOB, 2016). This value, as well as the key value of the Koc determination, will be taken into account for the chemical safety assessment (CSA), i.e. PNECsediment and PNECsoil derivation via the equilibrium partitioning method (EPM).
