Administrative data

Endpoint:
explosive properties of explosives
Study period:
2018
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance contains chemical groups associated with explosive properties which include oxygen, but the calculated oxygen balance is less than - 200
Justification for type of information:
JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In a statement it was concluded that the substance has no explosive properties.
Although the structures of the main constituent and the major impurity (structural isomer of the main constituent) contain a C≡C group, its contribution is relatively small compared to the overall molecular structure of the test substance. The calculated oxygen balance of the main constituent and its isomer impurity (MF C21H28O2) is -276.5. Since the calculated oxygen balance is less than -200, and because the 2 structures account for ca. 99.7% of the substance, the substance is considered to pose no risk for explodability.

In accordance with UN Manual of Tests and Criteria: Appendix 6 "Screening procedures for substances which may have explosive properties", the acceptance procedure for Class 1 explosives does not need to be applied.
