Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

PBT assessment: overall result

Reference
Name:
1-(2-Hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)-pyridinium-betain
Type of composition:
boundary composition of the substance
State / form:
solid: bulk
Reference substance:
1-(2-Hydroxy-3-sulfopropyl)-pyridinium-betain
PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

The assessment of PBT / vPvB properties is based upon a separate assessment for each parameter (i.e. P or vP, B or vB and T). Substances are only assigned as PBT or vPvB when they fulfil the criteria for all three properties (persistency, bioaccumulation and toxicity in case of PBT substance) or both criteria (i.e. very persistent and very bioaccumulative) in case of vPvB, respectively.

The substance is P (or vP), but neither B, nor T based on the assessment described in the endpoint study record 'PBT Assessment' and thus, the substance is not a PBT / vPvB substance. There is no necessity for further testing to identify one of these inherent chemical properties.

Likely routes of exposure:

The substance does not fulfill the PBT criteria (not PBT) and not the vPvB criteria (not vPvB) laid down in Annex XIII of Reach. Therefore, no emission characterization was performed.
