Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Executive summary:

Tests with Ethanol, 2,2'-[1,2-ethanediylbis(oxy)]bis-, reaction products with 3-(triethoxysilyl)-1-propanamine in water with the intent to determine readily biodegradability cannot be performed due to technical reasons based on the chemical properties of the monomer UVCB. Stability tests in water with the ethanol reaction product have shown that it immediately polymerises/condensates to a variety of polymeric/oligomeric Si-O-Si moieties, while releasing ethanol ("sol-gel chemistry"; cf. Henkel Report  17-09302-2, Henkel Report 16-17233/17-00685).
