Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Details on study design: HPLC method:
EQUIPMENT
- Apparatus:
- Type: Merck-Hitachi LaChrom HPLC system
- Type, material and dimension of analytical column: LiChrospher 100 CN 250 × 4.6 mm, 5 µm
- Detection system: UV set at 230 and 245 nm

MOBILE PHASES
- Type: Acetonitrile : ultrpure water 6:4, isocratic, 1 ml/min
- Solutes for dissolving test and reference substances: stock solutions were prepared in methanol (test substance) and acetonitrile (reference substances), respectively and diluted with the HPLC mobile phase

DETERMINATION OF DEAD TIME
- Method: by inert substance which is not retained by the column: sodium nitrate (RT = 1.56 min)

REFERENCE SUBSTANCES
- Identity (known log Koc): acetanilide (1.25), methyl benzoate (1.80), linuron (2.59), naphthalene (2.75), fenthion (3.31), alpha-Endosulfan (4.09), DDT (5.63)

DETERMINATION OF RETENTION TIMES
- Quantity of test substance introduced in the column: about 1 µg
- Quantity of reference substances: approx. 0.1 µg
- Intervals of calibration: three series of the reference solutions and the test item solution were measured alternately, with two replicate injections

REPETITIONS
- Number of determinations: two

EVALUATION
- Determination of the log Koc value: A calibration plot of log k versus log Koc was prepared for the reference standards. The calibration equation was determined by linear regression using the least squares method. The capacity factors k were calculated from the dead time and retention times of the reference substances. The log k data of the reference substances were plotted against their log Koc values.

Details on results (HPLC method):
- Retention times of reference substances used for calibration: acetanilide: 3.68, methyl benzoate: 4.07, linuron: 4.45, naphthalene: 4.79, fenthion: 5.06, alpha-endosulphan: 5.57, DDT: 6.51 minutes
- Details of fitted regression line (log k' vs. log Koc): log k' = 0.082 x log Koc + 0.065 (Rsq = 0.968)
- Graph of regression line attached ("Tables & Figures - Koc.pdf")
- Average retention data for test substance: Peak 1: 4.83 minutes, Peak 2: 5.27 minutes, Peak 3: 5.97 minutes (see attached document "Tables & Figures - Koc.pdf")
