First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

In case of inhalation: Move victim to fresh air. Seek medical treatment in case of troubles.

Following skin contact: Wash with plenty of water. Change contaminated clothing.

Consult a doctor if skin irritation persists.

After eye contact: Immediately flush eyes with plenty of flowing water for 10 to 15 minutes holding eyelids

apart.

Subsequently consult an ophthalmologist.

After swallowing: Rinse mouth and seek medical attention immediately.

Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Causes serious eye irritation.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Symptoms may occur with delay.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

Foam, extinguishing powder, carbon dioxide

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

Full water jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Combustible. In case of fire may be liberated: traces of incompletely burned carboncompounds, silicon dioxide, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for firefighters:

Wear self-contained positive pressure breathing apparatus and full firefighting protectiveclothing.

Additional information: Hazchem-Code: -

Do not allow fire water to penetrate into surface or ground water.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Eliminate all ignition sources if safe to do so. Keep unprotected people away.

Provide adequate ventilation. Do not breathe vapours.

Wear appropriate protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Environmental precautions

Do not allow to penetrate into soil, waterbodies or drains.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Collect mechanically using liquid-binding material (sand, diatomaceous earth, universal binding agents). Dispose of waste in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Final cleaning.

Additional information: Use explosion-proof equipment and non-sparking tools/utensils.

Special danger of slipping by leaking/spilling product.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Advices on safe handling: When not in use, keep containers tightly closed.

Provide adequate ventilation, and local exhaust as needed. Do not breathe vapours.

Wear appropriate protective equipment. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition. Avoid open flames. Do not weld.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storerooms and containers:

Keep container tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place.

Keep away from heat sources, sparks and open flames.

Keep container dry. Protect from moisture.

Store containers in upright position. Do not drop, drag or bang the container.

Do not re-use the empty container.

Hints on joint storage: Avoid contact with oxidizing agents, peroxides, water, acids and bases.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Provide adequate ventilation, and local exhaust as needed.

Personal protection equipment

Occupational exposure controls

Respiratory protection: Respiratory protection must be worn whenever the WEL levels have been exceeded.

Use filter type A (= against vapours of organic substances). The filter class must be suitable for the maximum contaminant concentration (gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates)that may arise when handling the product. If the concentration is exceeded, closed-circuit breathing apparatus must be used!

Hand protection: Protective gloves according to EN 374.

Glove material: Plastic, rubber.

Observe glove manufacturer's instructions concerning penetrability and breakthrough time.

Eye protection: Tightly sealed goggles according to EN 166.

Body protection: Wear suitable protective clothing.

General protection and hygiene measures:

Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with skin and eyes.

Work place should be equipped with a shower and an eye rinsing apparatus.

Change contaminated clothing. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

Keep away from sources of ignition. Avoid open flames.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Moisture-sensitive: Formation of methanol.

Chemical stability

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

No dangerous reactions with proper and specified storage and handling

Conditions to avoid

Keep away from heat sources, sparks and open flames. Protect from moisture contamination.

Incompatible materials

Water, acids, alkalis, strong oxidizing agents

Hazardous decomposition products

In case of fire may be liberated: traces of incompletely burned carbon compounds, silicon dioxide, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.

Thermal decomposition: No data available

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Product

Waste key number: 07 02 16* = Waste containing hazardous silicones

* = Evidence for disposal must be provided.

Recommendation: Incinerate according to applicable local, state and federal regulations.

Contaminated packaging

Waste key number: 15 01 02 = Plastic packaging or 150104 = Metallic packaging

Recommendation: Residual substance emptied and rinsed clean. Do not re-use the empty container.

Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation. Non-contaminated packages may be recycled.
