Melting point / melting range // boiling point / boiling range: Differential scanning calorimetry

The first DSC measurement in an aluminium crucible with a hole showed a endothermal effect in the temperature range of 120 – 220 °C, directly followed by a multistage exothermal effect. A second measurement was stopped after the endothermal effect and before the exothermal effects. Visual inspection showed no melting. The test item seemed to be unchanged.

The results of the DSC measurements are summarized in Table1.

Under consideration of the result from the DSC measurement it was concluded that the test item had no melting point and no boiling point at atmospheric conditions. Decomposition started at approx. 220 °C.

Executive summary:

The test item had no melting point and no boiling point at atmospheric conditions. Decomposition started at approx. 220 °C.
