Based on its physico-chemical properties such as low water solubility (< 2.4 µg/L at 20 °C, pH 6.3; OECD 105, column elution method), low volatilization potential (vapour pressure <1.0E-04 Pa at 20 °C, SPARC v4.6) and a high log Koc (5.2567; MCI method, KOCWIN v2.00), sediment and soil are expected to be the main compartments for environmental distribution of Neopentyl glycol dicaprate (CAS No. 27841-06-1).According to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment, Chapter R.7b (ECHA, 2017) once poorly soluble chemicals enter a standard sewage treatment plant, these substances are expected to be removed from the water column to a significant degree by adsorption to sewage sludge. Therefore the release to surface waters, and thereby exposure of sediment and soil, is considered as marginally.
