N-chlorosuccinimide is inherently biodegradable in a static test.

Additional information

A static test on the determination of the inherent aerobic biodegradation on N-chlorosuccinimide was conducted. The reference substance sodium benzoate was degraded by approx. 97% in 1 day, indicating a valid test result. In the first phase of degradation N-chlorosuccinimide appeared to be toxic to the micro organism, resulting in a negative degradation value as the sludge was disintegrated. After aprox. 7 days of incubation the micro organisms were adapted to N-chlorosuccinimide and the test substance was degraded by 83 % after 28 days. 

N-chlorosuccinimide can therefore be regarded as inherently biodegradable in the static test.
