Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid having a melting point <= 160°C
Cross-reference
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
data waiving: supporting information
Reference
Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
conducted to determine the boiling point, but melting point result included, too
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: EU Method A.2 (Boiling Temperature)
Deviations:
no
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Melting point has been determined in boiling point determination, too
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
ca. 138 °C
Atm. press.:
101.1 kPa
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
250 °C
Remarks on result:
other: partial boiling with decomposition at 250 °C; two measurements have been made
Conclusions:
The study was conducted under GLP according to OECD guideline 103 on the registered substance itself. The method is to be considered scientifically reasonable with no deficiencies in documentation or any deviations although the guideline is designed for the determination of the boiling point and therefore reliability of Klimisch 2 has been assigned. The substance partially melts at ca. 138 °C.
Executive summary:

Melting point has been determined to be at 138°C (101.1 kPa) by differential scanning calorimetry, designed to be compatible with EU method A.2 B and OECD Guideline 103 (GLP).
