Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For the test substance, data for the three acute toxicity endpoints with aquatic organisms from three different trophic levels are available (fish, daphnia, algae). All available data show no signs of toxicity up to the nominal concentration of 100 mg/L which is distinctly above the water solubility/limit of determination in the water solubility test. In addition, data for the chronic toxicity endpoints for three aquatic species from three different trophic levels (algae, fish and daphnia) are available. Chronic exposure to fish showed also no effects on the test animals up the limit of the water solubility. In daphnia, longterm data also revealed no findings up to a concentration of 100 mg/L (NOEC), i.e. up to the water solubility limit.

Therefore, no hazard is identified.

Conclusion on classification

Aquatic acute toxicity

48 h, EC50 (Daphnia magna): >100 mg/L (nominal)

96 h, LC50 (Danio rerio): >100 mg/L (nominal)

Read-across: 72 h, ErC50 growth rate (Desmodesmus subspicatus): >100 mg/L (nominal)

Aquatic chronic toxicity

21 d, NOEC (Daphnia magna): >100 mg/L (nominal)

28 d, NOEC (Cyprinus carpio): >100 mg/L (nominal)

Read-across: 72 h, NOEC (Desmodesmus subspicatus): >100 mg/L (nominal)

Classification, Labeling, and Packaging Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008

The available experimental test data of the substance are reliable and suitable for classification purposes under Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. The test item was determined to be not readily biodegradable. In the aquatic tests conducted, the test substance showed no toxic effects on the tested species up to and above the solubility limit of the pure substance. The determined 48 h EC50 for Daphnia magna was >100 mg/L (nominal) and the 21 d NOEC was >100 mg/L (nominal). Short-term exposure in Danio rerio resulted in a 96 h LD50 >100 mg/L (nominal) and after long-term exposure (28 d) in Cyprinus carpio a NOEC of >100 mg/L (nominal) was determined. A study with the read-across source substance in Desmodesmus subspicatus lead to 72 h EC50 and NOEC of >100 mg/L (nominal). Based on the results obtained in studies testing up to and above the solubility limit of the substance and taking into account the result with the read-across source substance, the substance is not considered to require classification for short-term (acute) and long-term (chronic) aquatic toxicity according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP).
