Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
Nov. 18, 2013-Jan. 03, 2014
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Results

The solid test item, Sistema A10E-C/Cosmelike SA-10/Sugar Wax A-10E, did not ignite when it was exposed to a hot flame for 2 minutes. The sample melted around the area of the flame but no further burning was observed. The solid test item, Sistema A10E-C/Cosmelike SA-10/ Sugar Wax A-10E, was determined to be not flammable.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable
Remarks:
Migrated information
Conclusions:
The test substance is not flammable.
Executive summary:

The flammability of the test substance was determined in an EU Guideline A.10 study. The test substance was exposed to a flame for two minutes, but did not ignite. The test substance is not flammable.

Description of key information

Test substance is not flammable (EU A.10).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The substance is not flammable on ignition, based on experience in handling and use and the chemcial sturcture; pyrophoric and flammability on contact with water properties are not to be expected. The substance is completely molten at 160 °C; therefore, it does not need to be considered for classification as self-heating.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Conclusive but not sufficient for classification: no ignition (EU A.10) based on experience in handling and use and the chemcial sturcture; pyrophoric and flammability on contact with water properties are not to be expected. The substance is completely molten at 160 °C; therefore, it does not need to be considered for classification as self-heating.
