Volume Rated Particle Size Distribution

The volume distributions are seen to be very reproducible and bi-modal with maxima observed at approximately 9 and 70 µm.

Particle concentration (by volume) is seen to decrease after 9 µm, with no particles detected below 2 µm.

Number Rated Particle Size Distribution

The number distributions are also seen to be reproducible, and mono-modal with a maximum observed at approximately 4 µm. Particle concentration (by number) is seen to decrease sharply after 3 µm, with no particles detected below 1 µm. Based on the results from the number distribution, the material is not considered to fall under the EC’s recommended definition of nanomaterial (50% < 100 nm based on particle number).

The volume-rated and number-rated particle size distributions for copper (I) thiocyanate were determined by laser diffraction using a Malvern MS3000 laser diffraction system in accordance with ISO 13320:2009.
