Test solutions

Details on test solutions:
PREPARATION AND APPLICATION OF TEST SOLUTION
- Method:
The test substance is hardly soluble. Therefore, before starting the test, the test substance (10000 mg test item) was suspended in dilution water (drinking water) and placed in a mechnical shaker (approximately 130 rpm) for 24 hours. After this time period of incubation the suspension was filtered (fluted filter; rinsed with deionised water before filtration was conducted). The clear filtrate (eluate) was used in the test without further dilution.
- Controls: blank control (assumed, not clearly stated in the study report)

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Validity criteria fulfilled:
not specified
Conclusions:
Acute toxic effects could not be observed
The 96h-LC50 for cobalt zinc silicate blue phenacite toxicity (survival) to Brachydanio rerio is >10,000 mg/L (water accomodated fraction). This value will further be used in the chemical safety assessment. The corresponding LC0 is ≥ 10,000 mg/L (water accomodated fraction) as well.
