Description of key information

Adsorption to solid soil phase is not expected.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The study does not need to be conducted because the substance has a low octanol water partition coefficient and the adsorption potential of this substance is related to this parameter. Additionally, the log Koc has been calculated using EPI Suite KOCWIN program for three relevant components of the substance, one non-methylated structure (CAS 1854-26-8), one mono-methylated structure (CAS 18190-99-3) and one dimethylated structure (CAS 3001-61-4).

Using the Kow method the following Koc values were calculated:

CAS 1854 -26 -8: 0.0005443 L/kg (log Koc: -3.2642)

CAS 18190 -99 -3: 0.002171 L/kg (log Koc: -2.6633)

CAS 3001 -61 -4: 0.008549 L/kg (log Koc: -2.0681)

Using the molecular connectivity index (MCI) method the following Koc values were calculated:

CAS 1854 -26 -8: 10 L/kg (log Koc: 1)

CAS 18190 -99 -3: 10 L/kg (log Koc: 1)

CAS 3001 -61 -4: 10 L/kg (log Koc: 1)

All structures show no adsorption potential. According to Koc results adsorption of the substance to soil particles is not likely (SRC PCKOCWIN v1.66, 2007). The results of the MCI method were considered as worst case scenario and therefore chosen for the calculation of K_susp and K_soil water by EUSES for the PNEC Sediment and PNEC soil calculation in IUCLID section 6.
