The results indicate that 2-methylpropane-2-thiol is not inhibitory to microorganisms, nor is it readily biodegradable. The results have been taken from Gancet (2010) - a GLP compliant, 63 day, aerobic test on secondary effluent, following OECD guideline 301D (Ready Biodegradability - Closed Bottle Test).

The results indicate that 2 -methylpropane-2-thiol is not readily biodegradable and may therefore be persistent in the environment.
