Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Data are available on Similar substance 01:

EC50 (48h) invertebrate Daphnia: > 100 mg/L

NOEC (48h) invertebrate Daphnia: 69 mg/L

EC50 (96h) Growth rate Frond Number Lemna: 69 mg/L

TL50 6.5 mg/L.

Additional information

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the test item to Daphnia magna. Test organism were exposed to an aqueous solution of the Similar substance 01 at concentrations of 0.1, 1.0, 10.0 and 100 mg/L for 48 hours at a temperature of 20 °C to 22 °C under static test conditions (no guideline available). There was no significant immobilization in 20 daphnids exposed to a maximum test concentration of 100 mg/L for a period of 48 hours. Hence, the 48 hour EC50 and NOEC values were determined to >100 mg/L and 100 mg/L, respectively.

Based on the read across principle(read-across from supporting substance -structural analogue or surrogate), the results can be considered assessment of the registered substance.

Justification for read across is detailed in the report attached to the IUCLID section 13.

Toxicity to aquatic plants other than algae

A study was performed to assess the effect of the test item on the growth of the freshwater plant Lemna minor. The method followed that described in the OECD Guideline No. 221 “Lemna sp. Growth Inhibition Test (March 2006)”.

Exposure of Lemna minor to the test item gave the following results based on the geometric mean measured test concentrations:

EC50 (mg/L) Growth rate Frond Number: 69

EC50 (mg/L) Growth rate Dry weight: > 86 *

EC50 (mg/L) Yield Frond number 3.9

EC50 (mg/L) Growth rate Dry weight: 3.2

NOEC (mg/L):  0.75

LOEC (mg/L): 2.7

* It was not possible to calculate an ErC50 value as no concentration tested resulted in 50% inhibition of growth rate.

Based on the read across principle(read-across from supporting substance -structural analogue or surrogate), the results can be considered assessment of the registered substance.

Justification for read across is detailed in the report attached to the IUCLID section 13.
