Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
solubility in organic solvents / fat solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
data from handbook or collection of data
Justification for type of information:
Specification data long held by the manufacturer. Practical handling experience has not resulted in the questioning of the accuracy of this data.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 116 (Fat Solubility of Solid and Liquid Substances)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
no solubility data taken specifically at 37 and 50 °C; no standard fat used.
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Solubility was assessed in various organic solvents rather than in a standard fat (triglyceride). Heating was undertaken to facilitate solubility as needed.
GLP compliance:
no

Solubility:
22 vol%
Temp.:
22 °C
Test substance stable:
not determined
Conclusions:
The test material was found to be 21-22% soluble in ethanol (EtOH) and 2-ethoxyl ethyl alcohol. It was 8% soluble in toluene, butyl alcohol and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), and minimally soluble (3%)in odourless mineral spirits.

Description of key information

Maximal solubility was 22% in 2-ethoxyl ethyl alcohol; lower for other organic solvents.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Solubility in organic solvents at 20°C:
2.2 g/L

Additional information

The test material was found to be 21-22% soluble in ethanol (EtOH) and 2-ethoxyl ethyl alcohol.  It was 8% soluble in toluene, butyl alcohol and methyl ethyl ketone (MEK), and minimally soluble  (3%) in odourless mineral spirits. The maximal solubility is in

2-ethoxyl ethyl alcohol (22%) or 22 g/100 ml or 2.2 g/L. The substance was not tested in standard fat (triglyceride).
