Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

To determine the toxicity of Imidazole to aquatic invertebrates, a static non-GLP study following EU method C.2 using Daphnia magna was performed. The calculated nominal EC50 (48h) value in this study was 341.5 mg/l (BASF 1988).

In order to support the data on CAS 288-32-4, imidazole, acute data were also taken from CAS 693-98-1, 2-methylimidazole and CAS 916 -47 -7, 1 -methylimidazole. These substances reveal comparable structures as they consist of a imidazole-ring with an additional methyl group.

These data support the assumption that imidazole is of low toxicity to aquatic organisms. Due to all the data present, it can be concluded that imidazole is of low toxicity to aquatic invertebrates.
