Description of key information

EC50 > 100 mg/L, NOEC = 10 mg/L (OECD 201, Scenedesmus subspicatus)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
10 mg/L

Additional information

Sodium triacetoxyborohydride was tested in a GLP study performed according to OECD 201. Alga Scenedesmus subspicatus was exposed to concentrations of 10, 22, 46 and 100 mg/L for 72 h under static conditions. The determined EC50 after 72 -h was > 100mg/L, the NOEC was 10 mg/L and the LOEC was 22 mg/L, while the EC10 was determined to be 16 mg/L based on biomass and 82 mg/L based on growth rate, respectively.
