The substance 2,6-dimethylheptan-4-one has been shown to meet current criteria for ready biodegradability in the closed-bottle test. In this 20-day test, 88% of theoretial oxygen demand (ThOD) was observed for an initial concentration of 10 mg/L as test substance. By OECD definition of substances meeting the "ready biodegradability" criteria, the substance can be considered to rapidly and ultimately biodegrade in a variety of aerobic environments.
