Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The NOEC, EC10 and EC50 for biomass and growth rate are below the solubility limit of dodecane-1-thiol as well as the limit of detection of analysis. This corresponds to a NOEC of <14.5 micrograms/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
14.5 µg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
14.5 µg/L

Additional information

Thiebaud (1999) is a static, 72 -hour study which follows OECD guideline 201. It cannot be verified that the concentrations were maintained within 80% of the nominal concentrations, because the limit of solubility of dodecane-1-thiol is below the limit of analysis. However, as these have been determined from test substance concentrations at the limit of analysis, they provide a conservative result and have therefore been considered suitable for use. The study has been given a reliablility of 2 - reliable with restrictions (Klimisch et al 1997).
