Two studies, investigating the ready biodegradability of fatty acids, C16-18 even numbered and C18-unsatd. triesters with propylidynetrimethanol (CAS 57675-44-2) according to OECD 301B (CO2 Evolution Test), are available. In the key study (GLP; Häner, 2007) domestic activated sludge (non adapted) and in the supporting study (King, 1994) secondary effluent was used as inoculum. Häner (2007) observed a mean degradation of 80% whereas the biodegradation in the second study was measured to be 76% after 28 days (King, 1994). In both studies the 10-day-window was fulfilled. Therefore, the test substance can be classified as readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Furthermore the numerous further studies are available for the polyol esters which cover the variability of members with different alcohol and fatty acid chain lengths all confirm that the polyol ester category members are readily biodegradable ( please refer to IUCLID section 5 and the category justification in section 13).
