Description of key information

Triethylborane is highly reactive towards oxygen (air). It is exclusively marketed in liquid state and shipped under UN transport class 4.2 (substances liable to spontaneous combustion / pyrophoric liquids). Since the substance is a Transported Isolated Intermediate used under Strictly Controlled Conditions, no extra testing is required.
Triethylborane is an organometallic colourless clear pyrophoric liquid. The melting point is below - 20°C. The boiling point is 95 oC. The relative density is 0.684 g/cm3 @ 20 oC.The vapour pressure is 6700 Pa @ 25 oC.Partition coefficient and water solubility are waived as the substance is pyrophoric and is being registered solely as a Transported Isolated Intermediate used under Strictly Controlled Conditions. Surface tension is waived based on structure and it is not a desired property. The viscosity is 0.3 mPa.sec (dynamic). Since triethylborane is already classified as pyrophoric, flash point, autoflammability, flammability and oxidising properties are waived.
Triethylborane is non explosive.
