Additional information

Data on physical properties were obtained from two proprietary guideline study reports, which were not carried out to GLP so were given a reliability 2 (valid with restrictions) based on Klimisch codes (Klimisch et al., 1997). According to the report's owners the substance di-n-butene can be classified as CAS 11071-47-9 (Isooctene).

The substance is a clear colourless liquid at room temperature with a boiling point of 120⁰C and is only slightly soluble in water. The flashpoint indicates that Isooctene is a Category 2 highly flammable liquid with the hazard statement "highly flammable liquid and vapour". Isooctene was placed in this hazard class because it has a flash point of 9 °C and the boiling point of 120 °C and therefore meets the criteria of Category 2 for flammability (flash point < 23 °C and boiling point of > 35 °C).
