Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Additional information
The substance is dark brown/black powder with a characteristic odour.
No melting point and no boiling point were detected under the condition of the test, while the relative density was found 1.674. The particle size, evaluated by the method of light diffraction were in µm (diameter): 16.0 at 12.2% 8.0 at 66.3% and 1.0 at 97.1% oversize. Granulometry is of considerable importance for the toxic properties of a substance as it influences aspects such as: the route of exposure of humans and toxicity by inhalation; the choice of route of administration for animal testing; the efficiency of uptake in an organism; the distribution in the environment. The 8.1 % in volume of the test item has a particle size <= 4 µm (respirable fraction (the mass fraction of particles that reaches the alveoli).
According to Annex VII of REACH Regulation1907/2006, column 2, the study of vapour pressure does not need to be conducted for this substance but the lowest value accepted by EUSES has been reported for a complete Risk assessment (0.0000001 Pa).
The Partition coefficient Log Pow (overall mean of six determinations) was -1.94 at pH 5.1 and temperature 25 °C. The water solubility measure spectrophotometrically was > 300 g/L at 20°C while the fat solubility 0.38 mg/100 g fat at 37 °C. The surface tension of aqueous solution was performed using the Wilbelmy plate method. The surface tension at 0.1 g/L is similar to the surface tension of water, therefore no surfactant activity is expected.
It is not a flammable, explosive substance (Thermal Sensitivity, Mechanical Sensitivity and Mechanical Sensitivity were tested) and it is not considered an oxidizer. The thermal stability and the stability in air were evaluated according to the modified method based on OECD Guideline 113. The sample didn't show neither without nor with air any peak between room temperature and 150°C.
