Endpoint:
adsorption / desorption
Remarks:
adsorption/desorption
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:
2009-07-20 to 2009-09-20
Reliability:
3 (not reliable)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: see 'Remark'
Remarks:
Adsorption/desorption test was conducted in accordance with a national standard method (China) . The test is considered to be not reliable given the test procedure and results are not fully described; e.g. there is no description of the soil parameters; no information on Log Kow and solubility of the test substance; test with blank control not fully described.

Results and discussion

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The results of the screening experiment indicated that the adsorption rates in Changchun soil ESS-1, brown soil ESS-2 of Dalian and red soil ESS-3 of Changsha were 100% and the desorption rates from each of the three soils were 0%. However, the results are not considered to be reliable. The test procedure and results are not fully described; e.g. there is no description of the soil parameters and no information on Log Kow and solubility of the test substance which confirm the results of a 100 % of adsorption at each of the three soil types and 0% desorption as well. In addition , the test conducted withthe blank control is not fully described.
